About your hosts:
Mapalo Makhu is an award-winning Personal Finance Coach, Speaker and journalist and recently authored ‘You’re Not Broke, You’re Pre-Rich’. With a BCom Finance Degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning, Mapalo founded Woman&Finance to educate and inspire women to take charge of their finances and make the best financial decisions. On a continental level, the universal appeal of her message has seen her collaborate with She Leads Africa to provide her unique brand of ‘jargon-free’ financial education.
Hwalani Mabaso is a Provincial General Manager at Absa (WIMI) Wealth and Investment Management. She is a Women in Tech board member, an international organization with a double mission: to close the gender gap and to help women embrace technology. Hwalani was a finalist in the Standard Bank 40 under 40 young achievers and in 2019 was listed in Mail & Guardian Women Changing South Africa. An advocate for women empowerment, Hwalani holds a Master’s Degree in Business Management and is currently pursuing Doctoral Studies at the University of Pretoria with a focus on Turnaround Strategy, Business Rescue and Entrepreneurship.
Prem Govender chairs the Board of the South African Savings Institute and the Financial Services Consumer Education Foundation. A Professional Accountant in private practice and a CFP® Professional, Prem is passionate about encouraging people to adopt good money habits and embrace a culture of saving. Prem holds a BCom (Accounting), MCom (Taxation) and an Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning.
